Geduld | 2022-ongoing | Participatory public-space installation, two videos are shown from an object

Geduld explores the process of belonging and home-making in a new city, highlighting the socio-economic dynamics of Berlin.

Unlike typical garden labyrinths, its walls are made of construction fences: transparent, yet still obstructing movement. This structure reflects both Umut Azad Akkel’s experience of immigrating to Berlin and the city's constant state of construction.

The title means "patience" in German.

The installation also includes two participatory objects: Object I (Small Tower) and Object II (Exchange Point).

The form of the indoor object is derived from the cabinets that house security camera screens in Berlin’s underground stations.
